FIRST TIME FLYING? AIR TRAVEL ESSENTIALS AND PACKING TIPS

Are you flying for the first time or would you like to know how to prepare for your next air travel? Then you are reading the right article.
Packing ahead for a trip is quite essential because if you forget an item, you're left disappointed and unstable.
I've been there myself.
Also, packing too much can be a bit exhausting, leaving you in disarray and you end up paying extra baggage fees.

Here are few packing tips that might come in handy;

1. Rolling your clothes, not folding.
Tightly rolled clothes take up less space than folded ones. They're also less prone to getting deep wrinkles from folding creases.

2. Make a packing list.
Start your packing process days ahead of departure date. This gives you time to strategize and purchase any additional item you might need for your trip. Making a list ensures you never forget to bring anything important for the flight.

3. Know the airline's baggage fee policy so you don't spend above budget for your trip.

4. Get familiar with the 3-1-1 liquid rule by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for carry-on luggage. Your luggage will be confiscated or you will be held up in line if you bring a large bottle of shampoo, gel or deodorant through the security line. Know the agency's rules. All liquid brought onto planes must be in smaller bottles and inside a clear quart-size zip-top bag.
Foods such as peanut butter, mashed potatoes are classified as gels. Mascara, lipgloss and aerosol items are also classified as liquids or gels but liquid prescription medication is exempt.

5. Pack dual-purpose items or garments. If it's two in one, it's one less thing to pack.

6. Don't check in essential items.
Keep valuable and essential belongings in your carry on bag not in your checked luggage like passport, money, credit cards, jewelry, electronics like laptops and other valuables should be brought on the plane with you.

AIR TRAVEL ESSENTIALS
1. Take along antibacterial wipes to wipe down the arm rest and tray table in the plane. You never know who sat in the seat before you. It's best not to take chances.

2. Lip balm and lotion for cracked skin and lips before making it to your destination.

3. Chewing gum or eating a mint is a helpful way to avoid the ear pressure that develops during take off and landing.

4. Having something to do on a flight especially a long one is crucial. Always take along with you a novel or magazines.

5. Bring a bottle water and fill it up in the airport before boarding or buy one for the flight. Although they serve water on the flight, it's always not enough and you often have to wait until after take off. Staying hydrated is vital.

6. Earplugs and Sleep Mask.
Earplugs will help you mask away unwanted noise especially if you want to sleep in-flight while sleep mask is the best way to control the lighting in an airplane when sleeping.

7. Carrying Pouch.
Place all your items in a small carrying pouch that fits in the airplane seat pocket for easy access of anything you need
in-flight.

WHAT TO WEAR AND WHAT NOT TO
- Ditch your heels and jewelry.
Wear slip-on shoes or covered toe slippers like Crocs when flying because they are the easiest to remove when you have to go through airport security.

- Don't wear tight pants or jeans because you will be sitting for hours, so you need to make sure you are wearing something comfy and soft.

- Leggings are ideal for planes. They are soft, flexible and they let your legs breathe. Wear them with a long top or short dress.

- Take along a big scarf, jacket or cardigan if you get cold easily and it also doubles as a blanket if you don't like to use airline blankets.

- Bring socks if your feet gets cold easily.

- Carry lightweight bags that give you freedom.

- Wear dark colors when travelling incase you spill stuff or rub up against something that gets your clothes dirty. Dark colors or neutrals don't show the dirt as much.

Buckle up and enjoy your flight!

TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE IN HAUSALAND - THE PROCESS AND RITES

The Hausa are one of the most congested ethnic groups in Africa. They are heterogeneous in nature but culturally homogeneous people. They reside mostly in the Northern part of the country known to them as ''Arewa'' which is translated as Northern Nigeria. They are primarily Muslims while few are Christians. Although a great number of people in this region speak the Hausa language, different tribes among them have their own unique dialects. The Hausa traditional marriage is not as time consuming or expensive like the Yoruba and Igbo traditional marriage rites. Unlike in other culture where you are allowed some kind of freedom with the opposite sex, a Hausa man and woman don't have such freedom and the only thing that will bring about sexual contact between them is marriage. The Na Gani Ina  is the first stage where the groom with his male friends and kinsmen visit the bride's family house to make their intention known. They also go along with gifts. The
