SIMPLE WAYS IN TACKLING UNDERARM AND BODY ODOR

We all know that body or underarm odor is something we hate and would do our possible best to smell good always. Its annoying to sit close to a friend or colleague and then all you can perceive is some foul smell. Who knows what am talking about?

Before we tackle the odors, lets talk about reasons why we have odors in the first place especially those who don't know what caused it. Keep reading so you know how to deal with it.

You can't prevent sweating no matter what you use. The only thing you can do is prevent yourself from sweating at all. If you are trying to prevent any embarrassing sweat, then don't stress your body. Imagine when you wear white and you do hectic jobs, you only inviting your sweat glands to take its course. Your white would end up probably stained, smelly as a result of the sweat and dirt.

Lets talk about how sweat is generated. Your sweat doesn't actually sweat. The cells in a sweat gland secrete a fluid and that fluid is re-absorbed into the skin when you're at rest but when you're hot or stressed, the fluid is a bit much and can't be fully re-absorbed; instead its deposited on the surface of the skin called sweat.

The sweat glands produce a liquid while still odorless that contains proteins and fatty acids. Its a milky off-white color which isn't noticeable but your white shirts will tell because of the yellow stains in the armpits.
These proteins and fatty acids are the basis to underarm odor. Now, don't panic about your constant odor. Its not just you! The reason for smell or odors is that our sweat is deposited on skin with hungry bacteria. Its when the bacteria starts feeding on it that an odor is released. So, there's no smell oozing from your underarms, just the hungry bacteria feeding. Mind you, not everyone gets normal body odor. There is abnormal body odor which is as a result of excessive sweating. But its not the excessive sweat that causes odor, its the abundance of moisture which leads to abundance of bacteria that causes odor.

WAYS TO TACKLE ODOR.
  • Wear more of cotton wears and clothes that aren't tight. Cotton holds back sweat and tends to be very breathable.
  • Shave underarms- A lot of hairs can create an environment for bacteria. Hair absorbs odors.
  • Change shoes often- Shoe odors are really offensive. Changing your shoes will allow them air out and prevent odors from settling in one area. This reduces bacteria piled up in the shoe.
  • Eating healthy diets like vegetables and fruits. It will help you maintain a good personal hygiene and fight off most disease.
  • You can use coconut oil as a deodorant instead of the harsh chemical deodorants or apply talc powder to reduce underarm sweat. Coconut oil has lauric acid which eliminates bacteria that cause sweat with odor. Just take a small amount and massage well into your skin or underarm so it doesn't stain your clothes.
  • Deodorants- Some deodorants work and some don't. They contain sweat stopping ingredients. Deodorants help stop body odor while antiperspirants stop sweat and can only be used in underarm areas. Over application of antiperspirant can cause your sweat\ducts to block completely which can cause more sweating.

TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE IN HAUSALAND - THE PROCESS AND RITES

The Hausa are one of the most congested ethnic groups in Africa. They are heterogeneous in nature but culturally homogeneous people. They reside mostly in the Northern part of the country known to them as ''Arewa'' which is translated as Northern Nigeria. They are primarily Muslims while few are Christians. Although a great number of people in this region speak the Hausa language, different tribes among them have their own unique dialects. The Hausa traditional marriage is not as time consuming or expensive like the Yoruba and Igbo traditional marriage rites.
